This is a fabulous vintage 1940's 14ct gold fox and horseshoe hunting ring with ruby eyes, in a size I, US 4 1/2. The ring was recently sent for hallmarking and is just slightly under 14ct gold - (it tested as '582' (58.2% gold), rather than the '585' (58.5% gold) minimum UK standard for 14ct gold, so is only slightly under. However, due to it being slightly under the 585 standard, the assay office had to hallmark it for the next carat down from 14ct, which is 9ct, though the ring is much closer to 14ct than 9ct. The head of the ring measures around 1.3 x 1.3cm. The ring is set with 2 small 1mm rubies for the foxes eyes. The band is around 1.25mm in width. The ring has the old, original hallmark of '14K' on the inner band as pictured, along with the new hallmark, as explained previously. It weighs approximately 3.6g.
