This is a fabulous, chunky, original antique Victorian 18ct gold coiled snake ring with ruby eyes and diamond, in a size Z, US 12 (approx). In 1840, Prince Albert designed a snake ring for Queen Victoria, two snakes wrapped round the finger in an enchanting symbol of eternal love. The snake has ruby eyes, each stone measures around 1mm, and an old cut diamond, measuring around 4mm in diameter. I would estimate the diamond to be between 0.25 - 0.30ct. It's condition is commensurate with age (it is 120 years old!), with a few small hairline cracks on the inner band as pictured, though these do not go right through to the other side, and the ring is perfectly sturdy. (This would be a minor repair should you wish to do this). The ring is around 1.3cm in width at it's widest point. It is fully hallmarked as pictured for Birmingham 1900, and it is a very respectable weight at around 11.9g.
