This is a truly stunning designer Belais Bros. of New York, large art deco period 14ct white gold filigree synthetic ruby cocktail ring in a size K, US 5. The ring setting and shoulders have an extremely intricate and beautiful openwork filigree design, depicting what looks like either a butterfly or dragonfly on either shoulder, along with a floral or foliate pattern on the sides of the band. The larger rubies are an unusual tapered pentagon cut, and measure around 8 x 7mm each. There is a baguette cut ruby in the centre of the ring which measures around 4 x 2mm. The stones are surrounded with milgrain detail, and there is even detail on the claws, which sets the stones off beautifully. The band of the ring measures around 2mm in width and the head of the ring is a good size, measuring around 2 x 1cm, with a depth of around 5mm. It is stamped with 'Belais 14K' as pictured, along with the initials 'J.J.S'. It's condition is commensurate with age and use (it is around 100 years old!) , with some minor marks to the band as one would expect on a ring of this age, and the yellow gold is starting to show through a little on part of the band, so it would benefit from a re-dip should you wish to do this. It weighs approximately 3.7g. Any questions please ask. Box in pictures for display only, but an alternative will be supplied.
