Vintage 1974 9ct Gold Garnet & Split Pearl Cocktail Ring
A striking vintage 9ct gold garnet and split pearl cocktail ring, fully hallmarked for London 1974 and combining a substantial deep red garnet with an ornate halo of creamy split pearls.
At the centre sits an impressive oval faceted garnet measuring approximately 10 × 8mm. The stone has a wonderfully rich wine-red appearance, with brighter red flashes becoming visible as its large facets catch the light.
The garnet is surrounded by an attractive scalloped gold border, creating a decorative transition to the outer halo of approximately 2mm split pearls. The soft lustre of the pearls contrasts beautifully with both the rich garnet and warm yellow gold.
The ring is equally attractive when viewed from the side. Beneath the gemstones is an elaborate pierced openwork gallery, with decorative gold detailing supporting the pearl surround. At approximately 7.5mm deep, the raised setting gives the ring excellent presence and showcases the craftsmanship of the design.
Measuring approximately 19 × 16mm across the head and weighing approximately 5.1g, this is a substantial vintage cocktail ring with excellent finger coverage.
The full London 1974 hallmark provides a precise date and confirms this as a genuine piece of 1970s British jewellery. Its ornate styling reflects the strong revival of romantic and antique-inspired jewellery designs during the period.
